I have a 9 week old puppy and now I work full-time for 9 hours including traffic. I have a crate and a exercise pen that she can run around in. She has all she needs inside the pen. She does seem to be ok whenever I come back and she likes her pen but I don’t want her to feel lonely or depressed. She does go on her own into her pen to sleep in her crate and does things by herself in a room where we aren’t but I am worried about her feeling lonely. My sister has an adult dog that she said could come to my house and stay in the room with my puppy (in her pen) so she doesn’t feel lonely but the dog isn’t very playful and rather be left alone. She isn’t aggressive but she doesn’t like my puppy nipping at her tail and feet and may growl. I was wondering if there are any cheap dog care places or if I should just buy a 1-2 year old friendly dog she can play with at home.
I recommend looking into finding a Pet Sitter. They are people who will come to your home and spend time with your dog, at least a half hour. They can walk her, play with her, give her a bath, or whatever else you’d like them to do. They can do this for once a day, or twice a day, every day that you request. This is a MUCH healthier option to a doggy day care center, as she’d be exposed to all kinds of things that may not be healthy for her, and she may not get any one-on-one attention. Pet Sitter’s can be a little more expensive, but in the long run it’s just better for your dog. Plus it will be less stressful on your dog because she can stay in her home where she feels comfortable and safe.
